About the Fare/Share Team

Fare/Share began as a vision that Peter Hanna had at a party on the Upper West Side one night. The son of an MTA engineer, Peter has always been intrigued by how we get around New York, and how we can get around not necessarily faster, but smarter. He studied electrical engineering in college before continuing on to law school and becoming an intellectual property litigator. Although a practicing lawyer by day, Peter is passionate about all sorts of smart, cool technology that makes life easier, better, and more enjoyable.

Jeff Novich is a mass transit junkie who knows virtually every Manhattan bus and subway line and can tell you the fastest way to get anywhere in NYC. He loves efficiency and hates waiting. Jeff jumped at the opportunity to lead the development of Fare/Share, seeing it as a way to develop a new transit alternative to the fast but expensive cabs and cheap but agonizingly slow buses and trains. He is always looking to save cash and time and to meet people along the way. Jeff has a dual degree in physics and computer science from Johns Hopkins, a Masters in journalism from Columbia, and is involved in several other startups, including VocabSushi.com.

Aaron Glazer is all about data and brings a wealth of tech experience and a background in transportation policy to Fare/Share. He painstakingly crunched data from the Taxi and Limousine Commission – 14 million cab rides to be exact – to author our white paper about the potential for cab sharing in NYC. His results are astounding and represent the first published analysis of the obvious inefficiencies that the TLC and city are slowly acting on.
