Fare/Share has a lot of cool features to make your ride easier, faster, and more fun!

  • Automatic meetup selection – When Fare/Share finds a match, it picks the most sensible meetup spot between you and your potential cabmate. But if you disagree with Fare/Share’s selection, you can simply click and drag the pin to a spot that works for you!
  • Quick identification – Want to upload a pic of yourself so your cabmate can find you? Fare/Share lets you. Not comfortable uploading a pic? No problem! Just choose a color and an article of clothing (like “red” and “shirt” or “black” and “pants”).
  • Control who you share with – Fare/Share will always show you who’s around to share a ride, but it’s totally up to you who you ride with! Fare/Share displays a user’s name, gender, age, and their Fareness rating, which is just like an eBay feedback rating. So you can ride with whomever you want!
  • Leave the math to us – Fare/Share will give you an estimate of your respective fares, and just like the meetup spot, you can tweak the fare up or down as you approach your destination.
  • Cashless transactions (if you’ve got PayPal) – Don’t have cash? Not an issue if you and your cabmate have PayPal accounts. Simply click “Pay with PayPal” and you can send money to your cabmate in just a few seconds online!
  • Tweet your ride – Want your followers to know you’re headed to the Lower East Side and checking out of the party? Just hit “Tweet your ride” and Fare/Share will push a message to your Twitter account for all your followers to see. Who knows, you might find someone to ride with that way too!
  • Trending hotspots – Want to know where people are headed? Take a look at the Hotspots page, where you can see which bars, restaurants, and clubs are the hottest destinations in New York.
  • Ride safe, ride smart – After each ride, you’ll be asked one question alone: Would you ride with this person again? If your answer is yes, she her Fareness rating goes up for all to see, and if you say no, it takes a dip. Try to ride with folks with high Fareness ratings, and always remember to walk away if someone isn’t who they claim to be (user Jenny/Female/23 shouldn’t be a guy with a beard, you know?).
